Vision is something that we often take for granted, yet right now, over 1 million Canadians are living with blinding eye diseases. There are currently no cures for these diseases and as vision fades, so too can hope.
That is why I am participating in Cycle for Sight and raising money for Fighting Blindness Canada. And I am setting off to attempt to complete a yo-yo journey across Newfoundland and back! That's nearly 1800km over the unpredictable, bumpy, rocky terrain of the old railbed - the Newfoundland T'Railway.
This is by far my biggest challenge to date, and I am not sure if I will succeed. But I am inspired by other riders, some who are partially-sighted, who have decided to take action and not sit idly around waiting for something to happen.
And I truly believe that the research funded by Fighting Blindness Canada will lead to treatments and cures for vision loss.
The journey that I will be embarking on, while challenging, is insignificant compared to those who live with vision loss every day. Help me provide hope by donating today at the link below.
I have a goal and with your help, I know I can reach it. Think about it this way - if we can raise around $1 for each kilometre of the trail I ride, we will have made a significant contribution to the people who suffer vision loss every day.
I sincerely thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to my ride and Fighting Blindness Canada! Alternatively, if you prefer to sponsor me with a cheque, please download the pledge sheet and submit your donation to Cycle for Sight.
