Me, my family and “The Crankers” are at it again in the persuit to raise much needed funds for vision research. This year, we will be participating in Cycle for Sight on June 22nd and riding around the Hockley Valley countryside. As you know, this cause is very close to our hearts. We love Cycle for Sight because it is a fantastic one day ride in support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and we are delighted to share the day with so many family and friends.
This year I have set a lofty fundraising goal for myself of $16,185 because that is how much I raised last year. I hope with your help I can reach this goal. Gavin is almost 27 yrs old and has lived with retinitis pigmentosa his whole life. This disease has stolen almost all his vision. Every day I try to put myself in Gavin’s shoes and it only deepens my respect for him. Gavin constantly faces the uncertainty that his symptoms might change, worsen, or result in complete blindness. And despite this, he’s never complained. I know I couldn't be as brave and resilient as he is.
We are on the edge of major scientific breakthroughs. And I know that funding for stem cell research, drug therapies or artificial vision is how we'll restore sight for people like Gavin who are living with a currently incurable eye disease. There is nothing I want more in the world.
Thank you in advance, a million times over, for your support through this campaign. I’m thrilled to be fundraising for such a worthy cause and I would be happy to tell you first-hand how your donation will advance this important and exciting vision research.
