Dear Family and Friends,
Once again, I am fundraising for Fighting Blindness Canada’s annual Cycle for Sight event. All of the money raised will go towards the sponsorship of ground-breaking retinal research.
As you know, I live with a genetic retinal condition called retinitis pigmentosa (RP). RP has had a major impact on my life. Many of you have watched as my vision deteriorated to the point that I am effectively blind.
However, I still feel hopeful that I can one day benefit from all of the research that’s going on and stop the deterioration of my vision. Retinal research has become a major area of scientific focus. There is now a treatment for some forms of AMD; clinical trials are being run for a variety of retinal dystrophies, including RP; and the hope of a cure with gene and stem cell therapies or new third party technologies is looking more and more possible.
Research is expensive and I am proud to say that Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) is my passion charity. FBC is the largest private funder of vision research in Canada. It supports only the highest quality research projects, those that are truly making a difference. Research helps to create miracles; please join me in being a part of those miracles. The need is real. The possibility of successful cures and treatment is within our grasp.
The time for a cure is now.
Thanks. Your support is greatly appreciated.
