On June 22, I will be doing 50km on a tandem bike with my father-in-law, Rui Umezawa, in Sheldon Creek, ON, as part of the Cycle for Sight. The event is a fundraiser to benefit Fighting Blindness Canada, Canada’s leading vision research charity. Vision loss affects millions of Canadians and many members of my family. We are closer to a cure than ever before.
We are riding as part of a team of friends called the Wasabi Riders. We are currently in fifth place, and over halfway to our goal of raising $15,000.
Fighting Blindness Canada funds scientists and doctors doing innovative research into new treatments and cures for blinding eye disease. Through its events like Cycle for Sight, it has raised over $40 million and that have funded 600 discoveries from stem cells, to gene therapy, to bionic vision. I have been involved with the FBC for years and have been on the board of directors since 2016.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
