Tandem cycling is about team work and my cycling captain and I are a team that's goaling for 50km on this year's Shelbourne ride.
This year my indoor training is more important than ever and so far I feel great. Thanks to a recent donation from a local Lions Club, my captain and I will be riding a beautiful new "baby blue" bike - just my size and colour. Let me at it!
The Foundation Fighting Blindess Canada is Canada's largest private funder of vision research. While many advancements have been made to treat diseases such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy, there are still no cures. The Foundation says "we're getting close" through recent work in gene therapy and stem cell work. But more work is necessary.
I know that you know how personal this is for me. Thanks for supporting my goal and a special thank you to all the tandem cyclists out there who make it possible for cyclists, like me, with low vision.
Happy and safe riding everyone.
