After your tremendous generosity resulted in an extremely successful Cycle for Sight ride for me last year, I decided I would do it again. Only this time, I have gained allies -- my trusted teammates, the Wasabi Riders.
Joining me this year will be my wonderful son-in-law Steve, with whom I am riding on a tandem bike. Although he lives with retinitis pigmentosa (RP), this does not stop him from always giving to his community. He is a Rhodes Scholar and an accomplished lawyer who, at his young age, has appeared in front of the Supreme Court on behalf of Amnesty International. He is also a board member and outspoken supporter of the Foundation Blindness Canada (FBC).
Riding with us will be JC, who also lives with RP but nonetheless gives tirelessly -- as President of the Hanlan Boat Club, he has previously used rowing to raise funds for the FBC. Completing our team are Dorothy, Yaroslava and Sergei, all of whom do not hesitate for a moment whenever called upon to contribute to their community.
I am inspired by my fellow Wasabi Riders and others who have decided to take action and not sit idly around waiting for something to happen. I am riding because I believe that the research funded by the FBC will lead to cures for degenerative blindness. The journey that I will be embarking on with Cycle for Sight is only a small trek compared to those travelled by others who live with vision loss every day. Help me provide hope by making a donation today. I sincerely thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to my ride and the Foundation!
