Vision is something that we often take for granted, yet right now over 1 million Canadians are living with blinding eye diseases. There are currently no cures for these diseases and as vision fades, so too can hope. That is why I am participating in Cycle for Sight and raising money for Fighting Blindness Canada.
This cause is very close to my family’s heart. My cousin, Gavin Morrison, is the inspiration for our team “The Crankers”. Gavin was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at the age of 5, and this disease has stolen almost all of his vision. Gavin constantly faces the uncertainty that his symptoms might change, worsen, or result in complete blindness. Despite this, he never complains.
Fighting Blindness Canada is on the edge of major scientific breakthroughs, and funding for stem cell research is how we will restore vision for people like Gavin who are living with retinal eye diseases.
Please help me provide hope by donating at the link below. I sincerely thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to my ride and to Fighting Blindness Canada! Alternatively, if you prefer to sponsor me with a cheque, please download the pledge sheet and submit your donation to Cycle for Sight.
